Week 16: Upgrades and Downgrades
Dr. Fantasy Football
December 23, 2005

Congratulations for those of you competing in your fantasy football championship this weekend. I am competing in one of my league's championship. Of course that is expected since after all I am Dr. Fantasy Football. This week poses many challenges as we near the end of the regular season. Players who may have played are being held out. Adhere to my upgrades and downgrades and the only path you will follow is the path to victory.

UPGRADES

Jake Plummer

Plummer has not put up incredible numbers but has produced consistently. The Broncos should easily win this game at home.

Other Upgrades: Carson Palmer, Trent Green, Drew Brees.

Rudi Johnson

Johnson has been stellar as of late. He makes Cincinnati a legitimate contender. Every Superbowl contender needs a ground game.

Other Upgrades: Thomas Jones, Stephen Jackson, Clinton Portis.

Torry Holt

Holt has continue to produce even with a 3rd string quarterback. The 49ers lackluster play will be exploited by the Rams this week.

Other Upgrades: Chad Johnson, Chris Chambers, Jimmy Smith.

Chris Cooley

Cooley broke out last week for 3 touchdowns. Each week Cooley continues to become a more integral part of the offense. He should be good for a score this week.

Other Upgrades: Antonio Gates, Tony Gonzales.

Neil Rackers

Rackers has had a sensational season. He would have already broken the record if it wasn't for an injury. It should be interesting to see if can do it in the next 2 weeks.

Other Upgrades: Shayne Graham, Lawrence Tynes.

Pittsburgh Steelers

Steelers went in to Minnesota and should them what tough defense is. The Vikings are an overrated team in a weak division and conference. The Browns rookie quarterback will struggle to move the ball.

Other Upgrades: Chicago Bears, Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

DOWNGRADES

Brett Favre

I hate to downgrade Favre but the team is awful. The Bears have proven their defense is for real and should stifle Favre.

Other Downgrades: Drew Bledsoe, Eli Manning, Brad Johnson.

Tiki Barber

This is an important game for both teams. The Redskins have been playing on another level lately and won't give Barber any room to run.

Other Downgrades: Edgerrin James, Reuben Droughns, Chris Brown.

Darrell Jackson

Jackson returned last week and played well. He isn't in game shape yet so he will be limited. This game looks to be disappointing since most of the talent is going to play for a half.

Other Downgrades: Terry Glenn, Koren Robinson, Donald Driver.

L.J. Smith

Smith has fallen off and continues to be a downgrade without McNabb.

Other Downgrades: Dallas Clark, Marcus Pollard.

Paul Edinger

I will continue will avoiding a dome kicker playing away outside. It has been sound advice all season.

Other Downgrades: Jay Feely, Jason Hanson.

Indianapolis Colts

The Seahawks are playing at a top level and the Colts are going to rest players that are recovering from minor injuries last week. Unfortunately the brilliant draft pick is going to bite in you the ass for the most important game of the year.

Other Downgrades: New York Giants, Buffalo Bills.
